How do I use the composite input from the front of my computer?

Hi,
I currently own an HP computer with composite input
(yellow, white, red) in the front. I have my Xbox hooked
up to it. My question is how to get Media Center to
display the Xbox, if that is possible. Any help would be
appreciated.

You could get Media Center to display the xBox, but you won't like it. Media
Center imposes a several second delay to the incoming signal so it can
buffer it to the hard drive (this allows freezeframe and instant replay
stuff). Since your xBox needs to run "realtime" for most games, this delay
would basically make most games unplayable.

Do you know of any program downloadable that detects a thing such as an
Xbox/Gamecube/PS2 plugged into the composite inputs of the computer and plays
them in realtime?

I don't know of any. You'd have to exit Media Center and access the tuner
software to switch from TV to composite input.

This functionality wouldn't be possible with an MCE 2005 compatible analogue
capture card AIUI, as they all contain MPEG2 hardware encoding which will
add a half-second to a second or so of delay.

You would need a basic, non-hardware MPEG2 encoding, capture card - cheaper
than the MCE 2005 compatible versions usually. This will provide raw video
to the PC, rather than MPEG2, allowing for real-time scaling and display.

Basically this is two quite different applications - it would just be like
playing XBox through a Tivo in Live TV (except of course the Tivo has a
bypass to solve this very issue!) It is just the same as trying to operate
any digital TV set-top-box interactive or text application when watching via
MCE 2005 - the additional delay means you don't think you've pressed a
button when you have!

How? I can't figure it out. I plug in something into composite input 2
(the front) but you can't change to it.
I need any help I can get,
Landon

Are you sure it's an input and not an output? What analog capture software
do you have installed?

Very good question - they are clearly labeled "Input" and i can change to
composite2 in Intervideo WinDVD Creator and see the signal and hear the
audio, but can not change to composite1 or composite2 in MediaCenter. This is
a HP Media Center PC with an Hauppauge WinTV card. Yes I am trying to chase
this down through HP too. Yes I can use WinDVD Creator to see the signal.
However I want to simply use media center to change from watching the news on
MSNBC to my play games on my X-Box.
