I would really like to know if there's any way to get completely smooth
video on a decent new computer (Acer x3900 i5 Win 7 64 bit) connected to a
new LG tv at 1080p.
I've tried some lower spec pcs which simply haven't been capable of
producing the frame rate. But I think the x3900 is. The frame rate seems
good, the cpu isn't thrashing (in full screen at HD, 2 cores do almost
nothing and 2 work at below 50%), but on "panning" shots, the image is still
"jerky", not excessively but enough to be a bit of a nuisance.
I don't think this is a performance issue, I see a similar effect playing
the same program in normal definition, and the cpu is working at about 5%
max.
What it looks like to me is almost a frame sync problem, as though the TV
field is not synced to the source, so periodically a frame is dropped as one
system catches up with the other.
Does this seem possible?
I've noticed this on iplayer and also youtube, vimeo, etc, I've updated to
the latest flash and there are no new graphics drivers to install.
Is this normal? Are there any solutions?
Thanks
