i have:
pinnacle tv tuner
pinnacle PCTV windows media center
Windows Vista Ultimate
Comcast Cable
everything is up to date.
using the Pinnacle TVCenter Pro I can tune, for example, to channel 2.1,
2.2, 2.3 but in WMC I can not (can use channel 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.). What's
wrong?
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question I'm just a rookie who needs help!
thanks a lot in advance.

Which model Pinnacle tuner do you have.
If it is a hybrid tuner card meaning that only of the tuners can be used at
time then MC will not allow you to configure both since MC requires that any
configured tuner always be available.

can you, please, explain a little more on your answer.
thanks a lot!

this card is used only by the MC, what i was trying to say is if you use
another tv software you can tune to chanels like 2.1 but in MC (with no other
software running) you can only tune to chanels like 2. So, the only tuner is
used by MC at all times.
thanks Walford

With a hybrid card you can not watch a program with one tuner and
concurrently record a program with the other. MC requires that it have
total control over any tuners configured at all times so it will not let you
configure both tuners on a hybrid card. You have to pick one or the other
to configure in MC.
There are also Combo dual tuner cards which actually are two totally
separate tuners mounted on the same card so that they can be used
concurrently.
With other TV applications you are allowed to configure both but can only
use one of the tuners at a time.

Have you rerun TV setup inside MCE? what did you specify as your
provider (and what were your choices)? exactly what is the tuner
connected to?

Thanks Barb
yes, run tv setup in the MCE.
my provider is Comcast and after that it'll ask me my zip code.
after that i'll have to choose from a list of comcast lineup in this area. i
have tried all of them: digital and non ditigal, then waited for the
information about programing is downloaded but none of them allow me to tune
for example to chanel 2.1 (only chanel 2). that's all.

thanks a lot!

Standard Vista MC does not support clear QAM digital which is the
transmission method used by cable compaies so even if you do not configure
the analog tuner on your hybrid card you will not be able to configure and
receive any digital channels. MC in Windows 7 does support clear QAM.

I missed the post where you posted your tuner information. This
newsgroup is actually specifically for the OCUR/DCT tuner
manufactured by ATI. Thought you were looking for clear QAM with an
ATI DCT without a cable card inserted.

You might want to take a look at the Windows 7 RC which is available
to the public.
