Hi Everyone

When I try to watch TV using Media Center I get a notice- component
registration failure- some of the files needed to play radio or video are
missing or corrupt, Windows Media Center component registration may have
failed. I then cant watch live TV.

This problem first surfaced about 3 months ago and I was partially
overcoming it by resetting the computer to an earlier restore point but the
same problem just comes up again.

I am not sure what to do...please HELP!!!

I am using XP Media Center edition version 2002, Service Pack 3.

Any help would be most appreciated.

See if this helps you...

You receive a "Component Registration Failure" error message, a "Critical
Process Failure" error message, or a "Tuner Not Found" error message after
you install Update Rollup 2 for Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition
2005
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910905

If after applying the workaround in the above article does not work, then
try the suggestion on this blog site.

MceRepair 0.1 (alpha)
http://blogs.msdn.com/peterrosser/archive/2005/10/20/482974.aspx (but use
the 0.2 version)

Hi, I'm having the same error message "Component Registration Failure", but
I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate, not XP. Can someone steer me in the
right direction. This problem just appeared last week. Prior to then, I had
no issues with Windows Media Centre.

Thanks,
Krys

Jason,

I have the same problem as well. The message only occurs when I click on
recorded TV. it just started doing this last night.
