Have added 12 folders (4732 sub folders in total) and a total of 40,657
files.Not yet sync'd to another PC. Prior to syncing to 2nd PC checked the
file properties on the local drive and have discovered I'm missing 1615 files
- every folder has some files missing.

I remember stumbling across an article some time ago in respect of excluded
file types that FolderShare would not sync but could only recall *.lnk files
as being an excluded file type. Have checked thelocal directories for this
file type but found none so now I'm less than 100% assurred all my critical
files will be sync'd.

Anybody have a clue as to why this should be so?

There are other files that don't get sync'd. Most of them are metadata files
or temp files that wouln't be of interest on the remote machines, or worse
might conflict with local metadata there. I don't believe there is a
comprehensive list anywhere but if you find something that should be syncing
and is not, please let us know.

Thanks
Matthew

Hi Patrick,

Windows Live Sync will not synchronize certain files and directories that
are machine specific. This includes:

* Temporary Office files.
* Files with *.lnk extension.
* Thumbs.db files.
* Desktop.ini files.
* .DS_Store files.
* Icon\r files.
* .fsLockFile files.
* lockfile.lck files.
* Certain files with names that are legal on Mac but are illegal on Windows.
* Contents of Windows Desktop directory.
* Contents of directory where Windows Live Sync executable is located.
* Contents of Windows system directory.
* Contents of Mac user directory.
* Contents of Windows Live Sync log directory.

If you have a lot of files from the above list it could add up to difference
you see on your machine.

Dejan'

Thanks very much for full reply.

Spot checked one of my smaller folders and discrepancy fully explained by
Thumbs.db files - no surprise it was a photo collection.

I'll sleep safe at night now :)

Desktop.ini files are not sync'd, too.

But I can't believe that you have 1615 of them in your folders. So there are
probably some more exceptions ....

Is there a way to ADD filetypes that sync will ignore? EG .tmp files
