Morning all,

I've moved from a PC running XP to a PC running Windows 7 Professional,
32bit.

Are there any bits of advice for running Live sync on this platform?
Does it integrate with UAC at all? (Or whatever this feature is called
under Win7)

I used to have my Documents folder synced out, but last night I tried to
resync this back under the C:\users\robs\docuemtns folder and received a
number of errors saying that it could not create directories like My
Pictures, and the corresponding subdirs.

In Windows 7, the Documents folder is at \Users\%user%\My Documents and Pictures
is at \Users\%user%\My Pictures, etc.
Be careful that you are not trying to sync with the Library, as that is a
virtual path \Libraries\%user%\Documents and \Libraries\%user%\Pictures
I think that's what you are doing and it is an easy "mistake" due to the fact
that it looks like a real path in the explorer address bar.

In XP, the \My Pictures folder is within the \My Documents folder.

My recommendation, if you are synchronizing with an XP machine, is to create
multiple Sync folders and move the \My Pictures folder (on the XP machine) out
of \My Documents. I move mine to %user%\My Pictures, for example, to match what
exists in Vista and Windows 7.

I have a similar issue. Now that I have windows 7, I can't seem to select
any folder that isn't one of the library folders when I try and select a
folder for either a shared or personal folder. Clearly none of these will
form a link. I understand that there wasn't a problem with VISTA, but I
don't want to go back. I am on a free trial of windows 7, so if this doesn't
work I may have to deal with vista :( I have added and deleted my computer
several times, installed and uninstalled live sync and re-booted. Nothing is
working. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can you provide an example of the exact path of a folder that Live Sync won't
allow you to use as an end point on the Windows 7 PC?

Thanks Stephen,

I don't /think/ I was trying to sync the library. I think I had selected
the path location C:\users\robs\Documents as the sync point. I'm new to
Win 7, so maybe that actually IS the library path?

One interesting thing, if I manually browse the that location in Windows
Explorer the directory is pretty much empty ( a brand new install) . If
I try to manually create a new folder and call it My Pictures I get an
error saying there is already a directory of that name in that location
( or something similar )

I'm currently syncing to a different file location altogether, but will
keep investigating.

No, if you were headed in the \Documents folder as you described, that would be
the actual folder. There may be a shortcut in there to Pictures, though.
In any event, if you've picked a new end point - a different folder, you can
change the location of the special folders such as Documents, Pictures, Music,
etc. to point to your newly created folders that are currently synchronizing and
you can also add these folders to the appropriate Libraries if you end up using
the Windows 7 HomeGroup feature, for example.
