Before I spent 2 months in Cambodia there was no problem connecting to
Windows Live Sync. When I returned, I cannot connect with my laptop. I get
the Windows Live Sync Window which has "Verifying Your Windows Live ID" and
"Synchronizing". That window stays up, but it never signs in. When I hover
over the icon in the tray I get a tip "Windows Live Sync - Signing In." This
is an important issue as now that I'm back, I need to sync before I begin
working on certain projects. Thanks.

Check your Internet Explorer Tools/Internet Options/Connections/LAN - and make
sure that no proxy server is selected and that automatically detect isn't
checked. Also confirm that the date and time on the PC are correct. If that's
not the issue, I suggest uninstalling Live Sync and reinstalling it.

Checked IE as suggested and no proxy server is selected; also automatically
detect isn't checked. Date and time are same as on PC that connects except
for 2 minute difference. I will try uninstalling and reinstalling but want to
check first and make sure this won't affect my later syncing the files I need
to sync.

Thanks.

Checked options as indicated below. All OK. Uninstalled. Rebooted.
Reinstalled. Problem persists.

Can you sign into Live Sync from other PCs? Can you sign into
http://sync.live.com with this PC?
Try deleting Temporary Internet Files and Cookies on the PC. I wonder if somehow
the authentication is failing due to a stale cookie of some sort.
Other than that, the best I can suggest is to head over to the forum where
Support monitors and can escalate and take a support issue privately with you to
check the LiveID and account settings, for example. That forum is here:

When you uinstalled, did you also remove the PC from the web site at
http://sync.live.com ? You files will not be deleted and you can simply
reconnect the PC on a reinstall. Have a look at this topic:

Still no change. I'll try the other forum as you suggest. Meanwhile, I'll
check back later in case another idea comes to mind. Thanks for the time.
