had same problem and I fixed it

just for anyone else view this thread. I had this problem and since you can't change any settings if you aren't logged( a bug IMHO) you can't fix bad settings. I just went to C:\users\name\appdata\windows\windows live sync\settings and deleted everything in that folder and I was able to connect. Live sync recongnize my machine as a new computer and I had to reset up all my folders but its working.

Deleting all files in the folder mentioned above solved everything for me to!
