In order to access Hotmail/Live accounts with Outlook, you need the Outlook
Connector...

What are you trying to accomplish?
Outlook and WLM are both email client programs.

I use Outlook 2007 for my current employer and want to be able to have my
personal email act on Oulook also.

So I have installed Connector and it works but I am concerned now that my
work IT people can see my personal emails and contacts on my Live email. Can
they? I want to make sure this info is PRIVATE..

Anything you do on your company computer is the property of the company.
They have the full legal right to inspect anything on the PC and any
data that travels over their network. They have the right to fire you
if they don't like what you do on the PC which would include if you
encrypted the data to prevent them from reading it.

Well, you confused us because you misused the "Windows Live" terminology.
What you are talking about is called "Hotmail" or "Windows Live Hotmail".

Don't take a chance on misusing your employer's Outlook.
If you need Hotmail access at work just go to http://hotmail.com with a browser.

That is not true. This is my personal laptop I purchased with my own Outlook
that I purchased.

Not all of us work in an office environment.

It's my own Outlook software that I purchased not my companies.

So if I setup Connecter and have both emails in Outlook 2007 can they see my
Live E-mail?

Even though it is your own Outlook on your own laptop, your employer may
have rules about what you can do on a computer that connects to their network,
and they may have snooping software to enforce those rules. We have no way
of knowing what type of snooping tools your company has and what capabilities
that software has.

If data passes through the company server when connected to the internet using their system, it is highly likely that all content
can be monitored or stored for company review. Data, without going through a long-hand explanation, is generally transmitted by
opening a port on your machine and the company firewall. Data passing through can be captured.

It may be your pc and software, but if the company server is in use..they have a right to the data, and in fact for all practical
and legal purposes own it.

Let's back up to your earlier question on Windows Live Hotmail access in Outlook 2007
a. The Outlook Connector is necessary for new free hotmail accounts created after the fall of 2004 and also for prior hotmail
accounts not grandfathered.
- A grandfathered account is an account that is/was accessible in Outlook Express and in use at the time of that 2004 policy
change.
b. The Outlook Connector is not required for:
- Grandfathered accounts(free accounts capable of using OE)
- MSN Premium(subscription based) or MSn Premium sub-accounts
- Hotmail Plus(subscription) accounts (U.S., D.C. and Puerto Rico @$20/yr)
- MSN Legacy Pop3 accounts(dial up, bring your own isp[dial-dsl-cable-satellite])
Note: all the accounts in item (b) support http server access
c. Hotmail Plus accounts and Msn Legacy accounts are also capable of using the pop3/smtp servers in Outlook 2003 and 2007. A
slight difference exists in the pop3/smtp account setup(2003 uses SSL encryption, where as 2007 requires TSL encryption)

Using Outlook Express or Outlook without the Outlook Connector for Hotmail accounts meeting the above criteria uses the older
WebDAV protocol. It appears this capability will remain until at least Jan 2009.

If you are working at home with your own network, then there is no
issue.

If you are taking your laptop into your employer's office and using
their network, anything that travels over their network is their
business.
