Hi

I would like to know if there is way to Sync Microsoft Outlook with Windows
Live mail.
I would like to synchronize Outlooks Contacts and Calendar with it.

Regards,
Anubhav

Yes, if you use Hotmail and the Windows Live Calendar feature. Just install
the Outlook Connector and setup the Hotmail account.

The Outlook Connector makes those features accessible(access and manage) in Outlook. It **does not** sync the Contacts and Calendar
with Outlook's Contacts or Calendar(ie. contacts, calendars, and email remain separate since all data is stored in an *.ost file,
not Outlook's *.pst file.

You are correct, but practically speaking what's the difference? Why keep a
separate calendar and list of contacts?

I could ask the same..
If one has a pop3 account in OL and and OL calendar why keep a separate LiveID contact and calendar(most likely redundant) to
access separately in OL via the OLC
And since OL syncs contact and calendar data with a portable device(even iTunes and an iPod) and WLM does not, then why do
same(keep WLM cal and contacts that doesn't sync)

Victek..
The real answer lies in the middle...since the variation across users, pcs, and devices is vast.

The OLC 'does not' sync an Outlook's profile(contacts, calendar, mail) with Windows Live Mail or vice versa.

The OLC creates a separate ost file that pulls the information for a given Live ID permitting use and management within the
confines of that ost file and separate from one's Outlook's profile(pst file) calendar, contacts, and mail.

Does this make a practical difference?

Yes..the question was asked about syncing **Outlook** with Windows Live Mail and ***Outlook's** Contacts and Calendar with Windows
Live Mail.

WLM does not sync with Outlook, the web based content for a Live ID is only *available* in the Outlook using the Outlook Connector.
The Outlook Connector syncs with the server, not with Windows Live Mail.

Let me give you an example. I have a hotmail account and use WLM. This
syncs automatically on the web so I can install WLM on multiple machines and
my email, calendar and contacts are all there. However, I have a palm
hand-held that syncs only with Outlook, not WLM. So, I have to use the
Outlook connector to sync with my hotmail account. Then I can sync the
Palm. Practically speaking it doesn't matter (in this scenario) whether the
Outlook data is in the .PST or the .OST file. All that matters is I can use
Outlook for hotmail if I wish and I can sync my hand-held - all the data is
in one place and the process is transparent. Now, if someone has email
based on "Exchange" which uses the PST file along with Hotmail there may not
be a transparent way to merge the data. It may have to appear as multiple
inboxes, calendars and contact lists. That is perhaps an example of what
you mean, but I'll let you weigh in on that <g>.

Same as before...with respect to original question. Outlook does not Sync data, calendar or contacts with ***Windows Live Mail***
or vice
versa.

I suppose this is a common issue with many syncing tools for handhelds,
smartphones, etc. They sync just the default Outlook contacts folder and no
additional folder, no matter if this additional folder was created manually,
by Microsoft Office Outlook Connector, by SharePoint or whatever.

The only thing you can do is to drag&drop contacts from one folder into the
other and if it conflicts with an existing one, Outlook will notify you and
offer you to merge the contact details.
