Why does the addressee list sometimes include only the names of the
addressee, while at other times it also includes the e-mail address in
parentheses after the name?

The default is to only show the name of the contact. However, if the
contact has more than one email address assigned to it, then the email
address you selected is shown.

Thanks, Dave. That explains it!
Do you know if there is a way of forcing Windows Live to always include the
e-mail address? (And not just the name of the addressee?) I am thinking of a
situation in which I want each of the addressees to have access to each
other's e-mail addresses.

There's no option to do this, but if it works the way Dave suggests you
could duplicate your contacts and that should do it.

Email addresses are always included with names in the To and CC fields. The
email addresses are usually not displayed. Ctrl + F3 will display the names
and addresses.
The names can also be added to Contacts.

As long as you are using the TO or CC (not the BCC), the recipients are
already getting the e-mail addresses.

Whether or not the e-mail address displays in the received messages is
dependent on their mail program. Some do, some don't. They'd be able
to add the recipients to their contacts. Again how easy that is to do
depends on their mail program.

And any recipient who does a Reply All will send the message to everyone
in the TO, CC and From headers.
