Just today my Windows Live Mail is eating my e-mail. I am running Windows
Vista with Live Mail. I have had my wife's and my e-mails accounts setup so
our messages went into our own inbox folders. Today I click to get my mail
and I can't find it. I went into tools, messages rules and it still has both
of use setup on separate accounts. Message rules say to have my e-mail go
into a specific folder. The where to line has my email address and the
specific folder is in red. I click on it and try to specify my inbox it will
not highlight the OK button. What did I screw-up? Thanks

Why are you using message rules? Windows Live Mail doesn't need any
message rules to keep emails from different accounts separated.

Messages go into their respective Inbox folder without any rules.

Does your email account use a different password that your wife's password?

When you make a rule in Vista, is 'specific folder' in red?
In XP, it would be blue.

Rick or his wife must have an alias email address, because a separate
account would have setup separate folders.

YES, there is an red X in the tools, massage rules #1 (for me) and an X in
tools, message rules #2 (for her). I have since removed both rules. The
specified folder was a red color and wouldn't let me change them to the
inbox option. I had to make a new folder to turn off the red specify folder
option. After the reply from Gary I have turned off both rules. Still can't
get or see email. Both my wife's and my email seems to be downloading
messages but can't find in in box. I've even sent my self emails and can get
anything to show up. Thanks

If you enable Quick views ([View >] Layout > Folder pane > Shoe
Quick views), right-click on Quick views > Select quick views and
select at least All inbox, All junk e-mail and All e-mail. Then go
through them and see what you can find. Do the same with Storage
folders, just in case: enable them on the Layout page, then check
all the folders and sub-folders down there.

Do you have Web access to your ISP email server?
It could be that their server is down.
Or you could have a message blocking your email download.
Is your wife receiving email?

Yes there is my account that is showing all the folders that your Joe
account shows and her account is also showing all the folders as your other
account. I can see all the message from 8\15 back. Can't see any messages I
should have gotten on the 16th. I've sent my self at least 4 messages that
should have showed up.

I have 3 accounts setup. Each account comes with an Inbox folder and 4
other folders.
View, Layout, Folder pane, check Quick views. One of the folders under
Quick views is All unread e-mail.
The Ron account is showing 1 unread email. The account is collapsed.
Clicking on the triangle expands the account.
Are you seeing the account folders?

Thanks again
