How to collapse/expand message list in Live Mail

I am using Windows Live Mail as newsgroup reader. By default, topics in the
message list are collapsed. However, all topics in the message list are
expanded since a few days ago. Does anyone know how to change it back into
the collapsed mode?

(Live Mail under Windows 7)

FYI: the problem no longer exists. Somehow by adding this newsgroup in Live
Mail and by posting this topic, the message list has collapsed
spontaneously. Thanks!

If it happens in the future...
Click the small triangle beside a thread to expand or collapse a thread
and also the global setting to toggle the feature on or off can be found in
WLM's options
- Windows Live Mail button/Options/Mail/Read/<Automatically expand
group messages>
or
- Alt F O M Control-Tab

What if this doesn't work?
I have the same problem now and have tried this fix... it doesn't work for me.

The messages in my newsgroup show up expanded and I can not get them to collapse.

You can turn off conversation view under view> conversations> Off

Do you think after 4.33 years the person to whom you replied still needs
to turn conversations off to collapse the conversation ???
