I've installed Windows Live Mail on a computer which already has
WindowsMail, MSN Premium and MSN Hotmail connector. Windows Live Mail
installed, and correctly supports my comcast Mail account, but it won't read
the folders for my Hotmail account. It displays a message with a Download
button, but clicking on the button has no effect.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Peter

Hotmail is an online mail service. You use a browser like IE to read there.
LM is not a browser. Go to Hotmail and set up the POP3 service to transfer
mail to you computer.

How do you change the Hotmail into POP3 Service?

According to the link, only Hotmail plus users can use POP3, I'm a MSN
Premium user, so I don't have the facility.

But POP3 should not be needed for Windows Live Mail Desktop. On another
computer Windows Live Mail Desktop works fine. The folders are downloaded,
without a POP3 account.

For some reason on my Vista laptop, the folders do not download. I've
deleted the account and recreated it, but it still doesn't work.

If you are an MSn Premium subscriber, Pop3 is only available if your account
is a legacy pop3 account.

You might try exporting the account from WLM on the functional machine as an
IAF file.
- Export any email accounts on the problem WLM unit as an iaf file.
- Remove all email accounts from the problem WLM unit.
- Reconfigure WLM to not sign on(Tools/Options/Connections)
- Close WLM,
- Restart Windows,
- Remove all network Live ID passwords(Control Panel/User Accounts/Manage My
Network passwords)
- Open WLM, import the account using the IAF file ensuring that it is the
first and only account, if successful add any other desired accounts(import
works best).

The term 'Desktop' no longer applies, if your version is the 'Desktop'
version it would also be appropriate to upgrade to the latest version before
proceeding with any of the above.

Is this why I can't get my hotmail from Windows Live mail. If so how do I
reset my MSN to go to IE6? It keeps going to WLM which doesn't work.

Are you having the same problem as the original poster..Folders don't
download..

To avoid hijacking this thread why not start a new thread with specifics
on your issue(o/s, email client and version, other email clients
installed, programs set as default, etc..
