Since many folks also access the Hotmail web interface indirectly by using the account profile link in WLM to load their profile
here's the notice that was post by the Windows Live Hotmail Team.

I have noticed some posts and received a few emails dated after 10:15 PST(it is actually PDT/Pacific Daylight Time), thus keep
trying if still impacted.

At 10:55 PST/PDT, my last account was restored.

Hotmail and Windows Live ID experienced a service disruption starting at 8:44 PM (PST), which ended at 10:15 PM (PST), and during
this disruption you may have been told your inbox did not exist. This was incorrect messaging. Your inbox, contacts and Live ID are
all intact. We're all Hotmail customers, so we appreciate how frustrating this experience was. Thanks for your understanding. If
you're still getting errors, please close out all browsers and sign in again.

Where do you see this "account profile link"?
My Hotmail account in WLM doesn't seem to have it.

When you sign in with a Live ID, and click on the down arrow in the box in
the top right, it gives you options to
"View your profile" and "View your account"...

Thanks Dave,

Over the last two years, I've seen a lot of folks using WLM as a newsreader only and not wanting to store any contacts on their
machine(or work machine, or shared machine) or the web server use the 'account or profile' option as jumping point to accessing the
web interface for Hotmail.

Which is why, imo, so many associate Windows Live Mail with Hotmail and the other public newsgroups(Hotmail really doesn't have
one, but we've fielded question in the msn.discussion and more recently in internet.mail) and with overlap of Windows Live Mail and
Hotmail accounts, this forum will continue to be a stopping point.

Its not perfect, but simple questions with simple answers make more sense to me answer here, than send someone elsewhere to find
the exaxt same content available elsewhere. Its like telling someone to read the Wall St. Journal for the stock prices when the
paper they are reading has them in the business section.

Yes..its common amongst all compatible Msft o/s. I.e. it’s a feature of WLM, not limited or constrained by the operating system.
