I have a hotmail account and changed the password some weeks ago. The
new password was longer than 16 characters. Now the hotmail login screen
only allows 16 characters and so I can not log in to my hotmail account.
Also when I try the password reset unfortunately my secondary email
address was set to the same account so all password reset emails end up
in the same account and I can't access them.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated as I have some important emails in
that account that I need to access.
TIA
David

If that does not work, Try this option
https://account.live.com/ResetPassword.aspx
The above link will prompt for your Live ID and re-entry of six character graphic.
The subsequent screen will prompt for an option to use for resetting your password, choose the applicable.
<qp>
Select an option for resetting your password:
Use my location information and secret answer to verify my identity
Send password reset instructions to me in e-mail
<qp>
If the attempting to rectify using any of above at your end fails, then contact Hotmail support.
Hotmail Online Solutions Center
- requires creation of a username/pw that will also be linked to a Live ID
- Live ID username is **Not** visible to the public
- Do **Not** use the same password for the Solution Center Account that's used for your Live ID
