Make sure you are 'signed in'. This happens sometimes, just do a
Send/receive for that account and it's OK.

i have been having the same problem... and it is "signed in" i do a send and
receive and it says that there is a new message but the message cannot be
viewed. this is really annoying! why create the program if no one can use
it???

The error message mentions Account verification, which could cover a
multitude of sins (wrong user name, wrong password, wrong time zone,
wrong location...). Can you access your mail on the web? Are there
many messages in your web inbox? Try moving them to a user-defined
folder. Have you contacted Support as suggested? They will probably
recommend removing the account and then adding it back.

Signing in has nothing to do with sending or receiving messages.

Sorry, forgot to ask - where do you get the impression that 'no one
can use it?' There are hundreds of thousands of people out there
using it; I've had no problems with the program at all since it was
first released six months ago.

I erased everything from all my folders... and moved it onto my home computer
with outlook. So it isnt that there any any messages on there causing a
problem. you cant remove the default account though, or at least i cannot
figure out how to do it. it configured it all so i am not sure how that is
goofed up!

i apologize but none of the people i know have been able to and there are
plenty of these forums so there seem to be some large problems.

so my "no one" comment was wrong, admittedly, but it was not mention to be
taken literally... just that there are a lot of problems. Sorry if I offended
you!!!

I don't think there's any reason why you shouldn't be able to remove
any account, default or not. If you remove the default account,
there could be unpredictable results if WLMail can't work out which
account is now default. The program is born with no accounts - you
can restore it to that state by right-clicking on the account names
and selecting Remove account. If it's an HTTP or IMAP account you're
removing, you don't need to do anything else. Removing a POP account
will delete all folders under that account and the messages they
contain, so make sure to move all those messages somewhere else
(like to folders under Storage folders) first. If you have kept
copies of messages on the POP server, these should be downloaded
again when you re-add the account. I would restart WLMail after
removing an account and before adding it back. If it's an HTTP
(Hotmail-type) account, just accept the defaults when you add it
back.

No offence taken - but it is a little bit tiresome to read time and
again that 'it doesn't work' when that 'lot of problems' most often
arise because of improper configuration. There's absolutely no way
that any application can take every possible variation in hardware
and software setups and internet connections into account, so some
conflicts are bound to occur - but most of them can be resolved by
tweaking something somewhere. Many of the problems we've seen in
this newsgroup have been caused by server errors which resolve
themselves eventually. Yours could be one of these, but saying 'sit
down and wait' is not very encouraging, so it's a good idea to rule
out as many other possible causes as possible. A corrupt account is
one of these - so remove it and then add it back with
carefully-checked settings. This will either solve the problem or
rule out this possible cause.

And I'm inclined to say you're guilty of generalizing again when you
write "there are plenty of these forums" - I'd be delighted if you
could direct me to another that deals exclusively with Windows Live
Mail. We're mostly nice guys in here - some are just a bit rattier
than others.

Is this in reference to this message thread(message could not be displayed???).
If not start as new thread with a different title so it obtains more visibility for the intended topic.

winston, adamscicluna was the OP, who ended up piggybacking on my
responses to interloper Des. Rereading the thread, I noticed that
the reference to Account verification was not in the error
description but the subject of the undownloadable message, so my
remarks about that should be ignored. Sorry! That said, we seem to
be faced with an undefined 0x8000FFFF error, which could just as
well be server-side, cf.

Thanks Noel....that fills in the blanks.

Must be time to reset this group....the first post I see in this thread is Des on 5/19 @8:53am e.s.t. and found adamscicluna
original in that one's tail.

I've also had a half dozen or so 'message can not be displayed errors breaking continuity in a few threads.

Checking the web ui...they are all present. Had this occur on another group a few months back on a different server(removed the
server, recreated, subscribed etc to get all the missing posts).
