Hello,

Using 3rd Party program; FreePops, now I can access/receive email from Yahoo
account in WLM. However, I still can not sent email using Yahoo account
even though Iclosely follow the SMTP setting up procedure by Yahoo. Anyone
can give good solution (all solution is good anyway!)?

Since you are using a *freebie* account at Yahoo Mail (and why you even
bothered to setup FreePOPs) then ALL mail hosts at Yahoo are
inaccessible to you. You need to pay them to get access to their mail
hosts (POP and SMTP). I gave up on FreePOPs because it was too flaky.
For freebie Yahoo Mail accounts, look at using YahooPOPs (YPOPS). It is
another POP3-to-HTTP proxy. I used it for a couple of years but
eventually decided to setup a more stable e-mail environment. YahooPOPs
probably goes unresponsive about twice a week which requires you to kill
and restart it.

YahooPOPs also works as an SMTP-to-HTTP proxy so you can send your
outbound e-mails through the freebie Yahoo Mail account. However, you
should decide whether or not you want Yahoo to spamify every e-mail you
send out through their free webmail service. Every e-mail sent out
through a free Yahoo Mail account will get their spam (promotional)
signature appended to it. So use the SMTP mail host provided by your
own ISP. Receive through YahooPOPs (or FreePOPs) but send through your
ISP's SMTP mail host.

You don't need anything to use Yahoo. You setup Yahoo POP3 access from
within Options inside your Yahoo account.

Not true.

Log on to your Yahoo account and check the box to use POP3.

Access varies from market to market. POP is still available for some
domains, but not for my free yahoo.com account.

@Vanguard: I've been using FreePOPs for the last two years, and
apart from a couple of hiccups when Yahoo changed their interface,
it's worked flawlessly. I don't even notice it's running (starts and
stops automatically with WLMail). I also use it for Hotmail, so I
can apply rules. Same experience.

The OP only said "Yahoo account". That does NOT say which country for
whatever domain he uses for his Yahoo account. The co.uk on for UK and,
I think, the Australian one still permit access to their mail hosts for
free accounts. But "Yahoo account" without qualification means
Yahoo.com, the USA region for Yahoo, and that DOES require you pay them
to get access to their mail hosts. I have freebie Yahoo.com mail
accounts and know very well that there is no access to their mail hosts
for free accounts. The checkbox to which you refer doesn't even exist
in the webmail UI for the freebie Yahoo.com accounts.

Your headers show you are posting from somewhere in Canada. Maybe Yahoo
operates a regional .ca domain that still provides access to their mail
hosts for Yahoo.co.ca. The OP's headers show he is using an .nl domain
(Netherlands) so the regional Yahoo domain in the OP's area doesn't
afford access to their mail hosts for free accounts. What you have
available is not available to the OP.

The free US-based Yahoo accounts have webmail access only, no POP/SMTP.
Yahoo's policy in other countries varies.

Yahoo! offers POP access to Yahoo! Mail as a free feature exclusively
for Yahoo! Delivers members. If you agreed to receive special offers in
your mailbox when you registered for Yahoo! Mail, you are automatically
a member of Yahoo! Delivers.
If you are not sure if you are a member of Yahoo! Delivers, and you are
currently signed into your account, check your status on this page. If
you are not signed into your account, you can check your status or
become a Yahoo! Delivers member by doing the following:

Sign into your Yahoo! Mail account
Click on "Options" on the left hand navigation bar
Click on Yahoo! Delivers on the Options Page
Click "Yes" under Sign Up
Fill out the rest and click the "Finished" button

Once you have completed these steps, you are ready to set up your Yahoo!
Mail account so you can read your messages on the Web and also through
another email program. Click on "Options" and then on POP Access &
Forwarding and follow the directions on the screen.

Please don't post stuff that only applies to a few localities
without disclosing that fact.
AFAIK, free POP access by signing up for "Yahoo Delivers" is only
offered to Canadian residents.

Only still available on *select* Yahoo domains. Yours is one of them.
Mine isn't. The OP will have to see if their Yahoo's regional domain
still includes the "reward" which most other Yahoo Mail users lost
several years ago. Below is a copy of the e-mail notification (noticed
the year) that they sent out when they discontinued the reward (of
POP3/SMTP access) with their voluntary Yahoo Delivers guaranteed spam
delivery service.

In addition to Gary's suggestion about not clarifying the extent of applicability.
Yahoo Delivers' toggle to allow pop3 for U.S. based accounts ceased coincidental with the requirement to subscribe to Yahoo Plus
to maintain pop3 capability.
