Windows Mail comes with Vista only.
You can get it to run on Win7 if you know how to take ownership of the
Windows Mail folder, and replace it with the one from Vista.

I don't mean to dispute you, but I was using it on this computer which is
Windows 7.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is an irritating ad that is constantly
displayed at the right of the screen. You have the ability to change the
"SEND" name on outgoing email. None of this is possible under Windows Live
Mail. If that is something else, please tell me what it is and how can I use
it all the time.

There is no "ad" in Windows Live Mail. Does your program look like this?

If you have more than one address/account, you can change the From address
in a new message.

Windows Live Hotmail free accounts(Hotmail.com, Live.com,Msn.com) have an ad on the right side of the screen. Windows Live Hotmail
is accessed via browser on XP, Vista, and Windows 7.

Windows Live Mail is a desktop email client available for installation on XP,Vista, and Windows 7.

Windows Mail is a desktop email client and only included on Vista.

If you saw ads, you were using the first one(above) the second and third don't have ads. If not using the first, you were using
something other than any of the above.

Thanks Winston, that clarified it. I can change the "sent from" address
using windows hotmail. I can't do that using Windows Live Mail. Any idea
how to get rid of the ad on the right hand side of the screen?

Windows Live Mail (not Hotmail) no longer has ads..... only the early beta
version had ads for a while.

The Hotmail web UI provides an ad-free experience if the Live ID(hotmail.com, live.com,msn.com) is:
a. an Msn Premium account
b. an Msn Premium sub-account
c. a Hotmail Plus account

I.e. No ads is fee based. The above 3 do not remove the ads from Windows Live Messenger.

Note: (c) does not entitle one to an ad-free experience at msn.com or my.msn.com only (1) and (2) provide that option.

Since most ad's are Flash based, you may be able to remove the ad by removing and/or disabling Flash(search the net for those
options).
