Number of logins/connections on IMAP server is high

Hi,
I have been told that the number of connections that WLM uses when
connecting to my IMAP server is quite high - normally about 15 to 16
connections when WLM is opened and has checked for any new mail. My
account is using SSL when connecting to the server.

My iPhone uses 1 connection and I have been told that Thunderbird uses
only 1 connection when checking mail.
Could you tell me if this is normal and/or whether I can limit the
number of logins that WLM uses.
