Hi

I have had Windows Live Mail Desktop basically since it's inception, I have
never had to logon when
accessing my Hotmail accounts from WLMD.

For the past couple of days when I open WLMD a box comes up asking me to
logon on, it shows my
default hotmail email account but the the password box contains the word
"password" but I
cannot access that line, if I click on Logon I get a message saying I need
to enter my password, if
I click on cancel WLMD opens up and all is okay.

What has caused this change and how can i get rid of it.

I have Vista Ultimate 64.

Cheers

Daniel

The sign in is for Live services and is not necessary for sending and
receiving.
Alt + T, Options, Connection, Stop signing in.

What version are you using? Alt + H, About..........

Hi

thanks fore the info, that has fixed it.

I have version 2209 14.0.8089.726.

When I selected "Stop signing in" it said I would no longer be synchronism
with
my calendar.
Does that mean I will not receive email reminders?

thanks

Daniel

The reminders come from the event being on the online calendar.
You do not login to get the reminders.

If you don't login with a Live ID you will have a local calendar and **not** the same calendar when signed in to Windows Live
services.

Thus any reminders in place would be solely applicable to the online Live ID calendar(existing reminders or future reminders
configured in the web UI for a given Live ID).
- I.e. without a Live ID signon in WLM you will not receive reminders for the local-only(different calendar) nor will you have
the option to configure reminders for events on the local calendar(s).

Hi

I'm not sure if this is relevant or not, but I do not use Windows Live
services as far as I know, I use WLMD
and if i am away I use Hotmail webmail.

Mail and calendar are perfectly sync'd between the two and I do not have
issues with reminders
etc using either one.

cheers

Daniel

If you are signed in to Live services, your profile (Live ID) name or
address will show below the close X in WLM.
If you are not signed in, Sign in will display. When not signed in,
different Contacts and Calendar will be used.

If you click on Sign in or your sign in name, one of the options is to login
with a different Live ID. Logging in with a different Live ID will change
your Contacts and Calendar.

If you sign on with a Live ID to Windows Live in WLM....you are using Live Services(I.e. the cloud)
- Live Services handles the synchronization of contacts and calendar between the web UI and the signed on Live ID in WLM.
