I went to that TinyURL, but could find no mention at all of "contactcoll".

That thread was more about ''contacts'' - a side bar to this original topic.

I never heard of contactcoll.cache until now. When I searched my Message
Store for such a file, I got two copies. Here's the full copy'n'paste from
my Administrator:CommandPrompt session. Note that I've devoted all of
volume H: to "Mail Store" and put all of the WLM store into H:\WLM:
<paste>
Volume in drive H is Mail Store
Volume Serial Number is 6A1E-677F
Directory of h:\WLM\Contacts\RCW...@msn.com\real
03/11/2008 07:05 AM 3,289,600 contactcoll.cache
1 File(s) 3,289,600 bytes
Directory of h:\WLM\Contacts\RCW...@msn.com\shadow
03/11/2008 07:06 AM 3,281,408 contactcoll.cache
1 File(s) 3,281,408 bytes
Total Files Listed:
2 File(s) 6,571,008 bytes
0 Dir(s) 10,854,969,344 bytes free
</paste>
I know it wasn't necessary to paste ALL of that, but I wanted to show that
contactcoll.cache is a large (3+ MB) file and that there are TWO copies in
the WLM\Contacts\RCW...@msn.com folders. I have a couple of other email
accounts in WLM, but only the one at MSN.com has this file. The date/time
for the two files are when I turned on my computer this morning and started
WLM. I also started Outlook 2007 at the same time, so there may be some
connection there.
Hmmm... After some quick testing...Closing and restarting Outlook and/or
WLM, then running the same Dir command, produced the same results: same two
files, same sizes, same date/time.
It's a mystery, but it hasn't bothered me up to now, so I don't plan to
worry about it anymore. ;<)

My reference to the long thread was in answer to BChat's question about
where his contacts are stored. ...winston seems to have got almost to the
bottom of the whole convoluted system.

As I mentioned in another thread, I don't ''sign in'' when using WLM.
I no longer have that file and WLM seems to be doing OK.
