I signed up for "Microsoft Office Live" and have a domain name and an
e-mail address with that domain. The e-mail address is also the "Windows Live
Id" for me. I can always loging at (login.live.com) with the ID and check
mails on the web. I would like to check if I can use "Windows Live Mail
Desktop" to access the mails (na...@mydomain.com) so that I have mails on
desktop rather than on WEB?
If I need to do the same thing with outlook I need to buy the "outlook
connector" so wanted to check if I can do this for free with "Windows Live
Mail Desktop". If I can then can anyone please share the server (pop/smtp)
server details.
Regards,
Ajay
Windows Live Mail Desktop died almost a year ago. It is now simply Windows
Live Mail, and the latest public version is 12.0.1606. If you're not using
this, update at http://get.live.com

Would really appareciate if you could also please let me know:
1. Is there a way (with HTTP) to configure in WLMD to remove the mail from
the server and download it on the client?
2. The mails are available offline but lets say while i was offline i
deleted one mail on the server (its available on WLMD as its not connected)
but when i connect it again the mail gets removed from WLMD as well, is there
any ways to avoid the same?
3. Can we archive all the mails that are downloaded on the client(WLMD)?
4. In case of HTTP would the client synchronize with server periodically or
only when we press "send/receive"? Is this configurable?
Thanks a ton in advance for your help.
Rgds
Ajay
1. No. The only way you can retain messages on the client while deleting
them from the server is to move them out of the client account, for example
to a folder under Storage folders. You have to do this manually.
2. No - for the same reasons. If you delete a message on the web, it will
be deleted locally and vice versa. If 'deleting' means moving to the Deleted
items folder, then it will disappear from the client when Hotmail empties
that folder.
3. Yes - that's what Storage folders are for, among other things.
4. This should be governed by your settings for "Send and receive messages
at startup" and "Check for new messages every n minutes" on the Options >
General tab and for "Include this account when receiving mail or
synchronizing" on the account Properties > General tab. File > Work offline
will also suppress synchronization.
