Hi,
I am new and when looking to the forum first of all to learn something and
to help where possible i feel a difference between WLM & WLM-hotmail.

I am using WLM with e-mail accounts from a provider, so i don't use the
Windows Live id not the Windows Live-hotmail facility.

I have the impression that a lot of people are using the Windows-Live
hotmail because most of the problems i don't have with Windows Live Mail
used with my provider accounts.

Regards
Huib

Windows Live Mail(WLM) is an email client that permits the user to configure email accounts supporting pop3, deltasync, and imap
protocols.

Windows Live Hotmail is the web interface that permits a user to access their Hotmail type account(hotmail.com,live.com, msn.com)
mail in an internet browser.

Hotmail type accounts are capable of using both the Pop3 or DeltaSync protocol.

Pop3 capability is available in many email clients.
Delta Sync capability is available in WLM, the Outlook Connector(add-in for Outlook 03/07), and MSn Premium software.

am not at home to see my mails).
Can i use WLM to read my mails on my web-mail (i suppose that is the imap
protocol)

Depends upon your provider. Mine, 'at&t Yahoo! HSI', provides a web access
to email, and a POP3 access; but no IMAP access. So, unless I mark the
account to leave a copy of the email on the server, they are deleted when
the POP3 client downloads them. You can either:

Ask your provider if they offer IMAP access.
Attempt to access the standard IMAP port (143), or the secure IMAP port
(993). If you get an error when attempting the IMAP ports, your provider
probably does not support IMAP access.

Ask or visit your providers web site to determine if they permit accessing your webmail using Pop3 or the Imap protocol. If yes,
you may be able to use WLM to do so.
