Hi

I recently used a private email address to create a Live ID (specifically
for use with Windows Live Messenger).

The Live ID seems to work fine in every way, however - I am continually
prompted to "Verify my e-mail address"... This was an expected step in the
sign up process, but after completing the verification steps (many, many
times), I never receive the email with the final verification instructions.

I am 100% sure that the verification emails are not being filtered in any
way and that my email address is correct etc, etc...

I have seen threads elsewhere questioning the same issue, but I can't locate
a solution that works.

Is this a known problem? Can anyone assist?

Thanks in advance,
Jonathan

Also - to follow up this post - I had the same result when attempting to
setup the post to notify me of replies - it asked me to verify me email
address, but again... the verification email never arrived.

Thanks for the reply Winston.

Yes, I can login to account.live.com without a problem. I can operate the
Live profile successfully in every way and authenticate using the Live ID to
login to any Windows Live service (that I have tried so far).

When the page https://account.live.com/summarypage.aspx has loaded, I see
the following (amongst other things):

-----
Your e-mail address has not been verified. <Verify your e-mail address>

Password reset information

Alternate e-mail address: x...@xxx.com Change

-----

All of this looks fine. When I click on the "Verify your E-mail address"
link I get the following:

-----
To use this e-mail address in Windows Live, you need to verify that it is
your e-mail address.

We'll send verification instructions to xx...@xxxx.com. Follow the
instructions in the message to verify this e-mail address. Why do I need to
verify my e-mail address?

Send e-mail Cancel
-----

Clicking on "Send e-mail" yields the following:

-----
Verification e-mail has been sent to xx...@xxxxx.com
If you don't see the e-mail message in your inbox, look for it in your junk
mail folder or check your e-mail again later.
-----

*****However - the verification instructions never arrive*****

I have gone through this process countless times. I have even closed the
account, then re-opened it - changed the password - tried multiple methods of
initiating the verification process, and opened a support ticket direct with
Microsoft (SRX1089662895ID - to which I recieved clear instructions on how to
follow the same process I had already been completing............), then no
response from MS at all.

The other thing I tried was to click on the "Forgot Password" link before
logging in to see if the pw reset email would arrive. It did, (from
postm...@live.com) so I have no doubt that my email is in proper working
order. Do you know what email address the verification instructions would
come from?

Now I'm stumped.

Thanks
Jonathan

Everything looks fine.
The usual cause for a failed verification delivery is a junk mail filter or third party email client scanning ?
Sorry no other suggestions..
You could open a support ticket at support.live.com

I have just stumbled across this link via google.com and hopefully it will
resolve the exact same issue I have.

I'm using an external email address with Windows Live (because I have used
this for years with .net) Presently I'd like to use Windows Messenger.

Hope this helps.
