What is this, is it Windows Mail as opposed to Windows Live Mail?

Windows Mail is the email client available in Vista
Windows Live Mail Desktop was the old name (pre-release) for Windows Live Mail.
Thankfully, they dropped that name, but the newsgroup name remains.

Thanks for the explanation so it was the earlier version of WLM.. I kept
seeing this desktop programme being mentioned in threads and I thought oh no
not another email client.

You're welcome - to clarify, though, it was the earlier name - not an earlier
