Hi,
I have set up some cusom domain email accounts. Now I want to use Outlook to manage the email, but outlook does not appear able to connect to the custom domain accounts.

Does anyone know if Outlook Connector is supported with Custom Domains?

Hi there,

Windows Live Custom Domains are free accounts, so they cannot be used, by default, with programs like Outlook, Outlook Express, or with the Outlook Connector. There are a couple options available to you to check your messages without having to sign in to Hotmail online.

The first option, which is free, is to download Windows Live Mail, an installable desktop client that allows you to check messages from multiple mail accounts. It is similar to Outlook Express and is free to download from http://get.live.com/betas/home.

The other option is to purchase a paid subscription using your Custom Domains account. You can purchase a Hotmail Plus subscription which will give you access to just that one account. If you have MSN Premium or MSN Plus you can add your Custom Domains account as a sub-account to your subscription and that will extend it the same features. One caveat is that right now MSN 9.5 doesn't support adding Custom Domains accounts, so you will have to find a MSN 9 CD and install it with auto-upgrade disabled (there is a thread on doing that in this community).

I hope this helps you out.

Thank you for your suggestion Andrew. I have a msn premium account, which is associated with my custom domain account, so I thought I was licenced to use outlook connector with it.

I have outlook connector to work with my custom domain email account by installing the beta outlook connector version 2 with Office 2007.

Thanks again,

Richard

I am glad to hear that it worked using the newer version. I haven't heard of there being a problem with Outlook Connector and WLCD account in Office 2007, but maybe there is a version issue. That's definitely something to look in to. Hopefully anyone else having a similar issue will check here and see what you did to resolve the problem; thanks for contributing to the community.

Doesn't seem to be any Connect for CustomDomains so...
I have a properly configured Custom Domai (Serialseb.com), and the hotmail web client works fine with it. The Outlook Connector beta (the one supposedly working for any hotmail account) doesn't work though, while my normal hotmail works seemlessly.

Here's the log:
Outlook Connector Version 12.0.4518.1047

Account: s...@serialseb.com

Signed in successfully at 14/08/2007 10:22:53

Error in Calendar
Information is missing from your Microsoft Passport Network profile. In Calendar, click Options, and then update your personal profile.

The login itself is successful and the status bar list my used / free space stats, but everything else is stuck on a "Connecting..." message.

The problem happens on both my machines, leading me to believe there's a fundamental incompatibility between the two services.

Is this a known limitation?

Thanks,

Sebastien.

I'm having this problem currently with custom domain live mail accounts. The Outlook Connector is now free for e mail and contacts, but it won't connect to my account. I have it setup for another, strictly hotmail account and that one works so it shouldn't be the connector install. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
\Peter
