I set up a new identity for Outlook Express, but then I went back to the
Original Identity.
In the process I cannot get my address book back like I like it.
I have a saved address book in a folder, but when I import it, the Address
book just doubles
up on the names and still will not let me have the same as the saved Address
book.
How can I uninstall the Address book and then reinstall the Address book so
that I can then
import the saved Address book.

When you try to import, are you opening the Address Book and /then/ Import |
Address Book (wab)? You can't do it from the OE main window.
See Ken's reply and remember that folders and groups do not export nor
import.

Go to where your existing Address book is located, (user name).wab, rename
it to OLD(user name).wab.
Copy above saved address book on desktop to same location.
This will replace existing address book with the one on your desktop.
Good luck,
Ken

I did not say that.
I said locate your address book (user Name).wab.
Use search to find your address book. Note: in search there is Advance
Options, be sure hidden files and folders is checked.

So what is it that I should do, since I was unable to find the .wab files
listed with my user name.wab?

User name is the one you have in Outlook Express.
What are the user names of found .wab files, are any the same name you use
in OE?
By the way, Windows XP by default, hides a lot of files
To show hidden files.
Go to Control panel and open Folder Options or open My Documents, choose
Tools on the menu bar, then choose Folder Options on it's menu. Either way
opens the Folder Options dialog window. Choose the View tab then tick "Show
hidden files and folders", click OK.
While there uncheck "Hide file extension for known file types"

I'm not going to linger, but it sounds like you ended up with one more
identity than you or I thought you had & that may be where the importing
problem arose from.

Time to do some trimming IMO folks!. Is there actually a response in from
you in there somewhere?

Often you'll find excellent advice on a newsgroup.
Before you use that advice though, consider the
ramifications of it being wrong or even dangerous;
how important IS that to you?
ALWAYS verify and confirm ANY advice from a
