(a) Inbox pane changes on it's own to have frames and a scrollbar to
not having them, randomly.
When I do have the scrollbar, at times it will be erratic by not
staying at the top.
(b) Deleted mail doesn't go into Deleted File as deleted, by date. I
use the View settings for this, but they don't 'stick'.
(c) Don't have control of the Curser at times i.e. jumps to another
line when I am typing.
(d) Doesn't send emails to newsgroups. (Hope you get this).
(e) Get double emails.
I've just learned that OE and IE are somehow connected, and although I
have IE installed, my primary browser is Firefox. Wondering if this
could make a difference?
Also, may I just add this question: are Forwarded emails considered
Attachments?
I have tried on the web to figure this out on my own, but so far I
can't find the problem. I would appreciate any help that could be
offered.
Thank you in advance,
Sanandra

Tip: Don't post or use your real email address when posting to public
newsgroups or forums.
A1. Your current Identity may be damaged, especially if its the default Main
Identity. Try one or more of your accounts in a new Named Identity (File >
Identities > Add new identity). Assuming all is well, import messages from
the old Identity before deleting it (File > Identities > Manage Identities).
To avoid such corruption in future:
- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.
- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.
- Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual
compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/maintain.htm.
- Do not attempt to close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if
Automatic Compacting is taking place (WinXP SP2 only).
- Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.
A2 (cursor). Disable or uninstall Motive SmartBridge (installs with your ISP
software to allow them to monitor connection problems without input from
you).
A3 (newsgroup posting). This one made it. Use the MS newsserver to access
and post to these MS newsgroups: news://msnews.microsoft.com. No
subscriptions/passwords, posts appear within seconds & messages are archived
for a minimum of 90 days.
A4 (dupes). POP3 mail (e.g., na...@charter.net):
http://www.insideoe.com/problems/bugs.htm#pop3uidl
HTTP (Hotmail) and IMAP (AOL): http://www.insideoe.com/faqs/why.htm#dupes
A5. Firefox as default browser has nothing to do with any of the above.
A6. Forwarded emails are not attachments unless you attach the email to a
message.
