"ALL" attachments from Yahoo are NOT coming thru to OE. As stated previously
in a previous post, you can look at the message via properties and see there
is an attachment and what it should be such as JPG or DOC...etc.
This involves OE set for Bellsouth.net. mail. I have many friends & family
trying to send attachments from Yahoo and about 1/2 use the Yahoo web page
and the other 1/2 use Yahoo thru OE. It appears to make no difference which
way it is sent. I have even set-up a Yahoo email address and attempted to
send many different types of files. They do not come thru on OE, BUT here is
the strange part, I can go to the BellSouth Web page for email and the
attachment is there and retrievable.
This has the appearance of being an OE issue.
NEED HELP ON THIS ASAP PLEASE

Hi Eric,

On the surface it would appear to be a Yahoo issue. Some people were
trying to make sense of it at:

http://www.godiscussions.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2838&page=2

Someone reported success in receiving an attachment after forwarding the
message to another account.

A good first step would be to get one of these message files to Michael
Santovec so he can examine the headers.

Norman & Robert,

Thanks for your input, I will keep this in mind, in the mean time do you
have any help toward the question I am asking instead of the way I asked it?

I'm able to send attachments from Yahoo web mail to my OE without
problem. So I don't think there is any general Yahoo problem.

It's probably some combination of Yahoo specific headers with the user's
ISP and/or user installed anti-virus or anti-spam software.

I'm having the same exact issue as you. Same conditions, bellsouth.net
address with OE 6.0.

I've checked virus scans, uninstalled/reinstalled OE, and even system
restored in case of system changes from another user on my computer. Nothing
has changed that I'm aware of.

I did find potential spyware that caused something but it has been removed
so I don't think it is the problem now.

I have gone further and used Netscape and yahoo attachments come through
there no problem whatsoever so it is definitely a OE problem now. It's not
yahoo or bellsouth. I've been testing this all day long as I have a yahoo
account myself and sending back and forth and trying to receive something
from the yahoo account and can't.

I've looked everywhere and can't find anything about this issue. Hope
someone find something because I can't.

Norman,

Thanks for your reply. I too have turned off ALL anti-virus,
anti-spyware, spam blockers
so I am stumped. I have sent myself the same test pics and docs from
Hotmail, from
Bellsouth and from Gmail and all of these do just fine. Yahoo is the only
hang-up.
Something that either Microsoft did as an update pretty much has to be the
hang.
Reason being is that as I have stated before, When I check the Bellsouth
Webmail web page
all attachments are there from everyone including Yahoo. And again if the
attachment had
been blocked by any anti virus, firewall, spamfilter etc, it would not show
up in the properties
as it does in OE6.
And lastly, I am NOT the only one having this problem, but the problem is
specific to those of
us using OE6 and setup with Bellsouth.net.
We are depending on your great knowledge of these things to please work on
this.

Thanks Eric

I don't believe it is an Outlook Express issue. I have a DSL connection and just sent myself an
attachment using Yahoo Mail.
It came through on Outlook Express just fine. No I don't use Bell South, but I all other factors
should be close.
All my Microsoft updates are current, except for those coming today. (2nd Tuesday of the month.)

I'm still flustered with this issue. I have three computers, two being
windows XP and one windows 98.
None of them can receive attachments from yahoo email address, but yet,
Outlook 97, Netscape mail,
and webmail can access all attachments even yahoo. It's just Outlook
Express that can't access
yahoo attachments.

Anyone have ideas? Tell me where I need to look in OE.

I have the same issue with attachments from Yahoo email domain not opening in
OE6. I also run XP S/P2 with DSL from Bellsouth. Looks like the common
denominator in all previous posts is Bellsouth. Can't determine why
Bellsouth's webmail server picks up everything, yet it gets completely
dropped or garbled when downloaded to OE6. Bellsouth won't accept the issue
as theirs because their server contains the attachment. I'll be watching for
developments...

I've made this offer to several people with the Yahoo/BellSouth problem,
but so far no one has taken me up on it.

All the reports point to something happening as the messages is
downloaded from Bell South. Since the message is the right size after
download, it must be something getting screwed up in the message
headers.

If would like, you may send me one of the problem messages and I'll take
a look at it. It's best if you zip the message so that I get an exact
copy of it. To do that, do a File, Save As to an EML file of a problem
message. Then Right click the saved EML file and select Send To,
Compressed (zipped) folder. Then e-mail me the resulting ZIP file.
Alternately, you can do a Message, Forward As Attachment of a problem
message. This is not as good as the zip file since the headers can be
modified in transit which may obscure the problem. A simple Forward is
worthless since it does not include the headers.

I never received the e-mail.

What did you use for a subject? Maybe it got filtered out as spam. Try
sending again and I'll keep a look out for it. Be sure to use a
descriptive subject such as "Outlook Express Bellsouth problem". Not
something such as "here's your file" as so many spam/viruses use.

I did receive a sample message from someone else. Unfortunately he's
using Office Outlook which saves to MSG format rather than EML. The MSG
format scrambles the original message source into something that Outlook
likes, losing details necessary to identity the problem. The EML file
is an exact copy of the message as it downloaded in OE. From that, it's
possible to determine what's screwy.

I sent Michael a problem email from Yahoo and he provided a work around
for me to see attachments from their emails. I'm sending him one from
another
email domain so he can compare how others download to OE. Maybe the issue can
be isolated to one mail handler and we can get it resolved. thanks Michael.
I'll let
Michael explain the work around.
