I just upgraded from Windows Me to Windows XP, and from
Outlook Express 5 to OE6.

In OE5, to type for instance an accented "e", I would
type the apostrophe character followed by the letter e,
and this would produce an accented e.
To do the same in Word XP, you need to type
CTRL+apostrophe+e.

This does not work in OE6 ... would any of the French or
Spanish speaking users have a solution (I have to use
French occasionally, I do not want to change my keyboard
layout).

Merci! (Thanks!)

Holding down the ALT key and typing 0199 will produce Ç when the Alt key is
released. ALT 0200 produces È in accordance with the following table
http://webdesign.about.com/library/bl_htmlcodes.htm?iam=savvy&terms=ascii+table

Note if the table says 199 you must use 0199 .

This is cumbersome but is one possible solution for occasional use and works
here on my USA keyboard.
