anyway to get filters for the text of a post?

Somebody ought to create an add on like OE Tool and OE Quote Fix that will
allow the text of the posts to be filtered for certain words. That way, the
posts can be marked for download later and when the reader starts the
download the posts can be filtered at that time for certain words or phrases
within the post.

I have been asking for this for a while now. As far as I am concerned, we
should be able to use most, if not all, of the mail rules in news including the
ability to mark them as read and delete them.

This can be done, but it still requires that the user download the entire
message in order to see what's there so that the filter can then be applied.
So there would be no real advantage to such a filter, unless its on a web
server or somesuch that does not require the client download. I've done
this for mail to get rid of swen, but for news, its a bit more problematic.

I think the OP was referring to news Steve. I would certainly like to see the
news rules brought up to date even if they just allow the filters to delete from
the local store.
