In OE6, SP2 I have been unable to either open or save large, >100 MB, wmv or
avi files. They appear to combine properly if yenc, but I can't open them.
Anything around the 100 MB size or smaller is ok. Suggestions?

Thanks,
Jim

Are you using a yEnc proxy (which converts to Uuencode during download)
or manual yEnc decoder after the combine or some other method? OE
doesn't support yEnc directly.

Is the problem just with yEnc encoded files or also Base64 and Uuencode?

How many parts are you combining?

OE has limits with the number of parts it can combine. I think it's
around 256.

You might also try copying the parts to an empty local folder. Then do
a File, Folder, Compact on that folder then do the combine from that
folder.

I'm using a 3rd party program for yEnc, which has always done a good job.
The problem I have occurs when I try to save the resulting 312 MB wmv file.
I get a message saying that the "command failed to execute". The file is
obviously decoded as it always it, but for some reason I can't play it or
save. Any other time I use the decoder with yEnc and smaller wmv's, I can
save or play without difficulty, which is why I'm baffled that I can't save
or play this wmv.

Lack of free disk space can cause that problem.

I'm assuming that at the end of the combine and decode you have a
message with the WMV file as attachment. Are you clicking (left or
right) on the attachment in order to save it, or using File, Save
Attachments?

If you are left clicking on the attachment, do you get the Open or Save
dialog?

ErrMsg The Command Failed to Execute (Saving Attachments)

Also try Clearing the IE Temporary Internet Files (TIF). In IE: Tools,
Internet Options, General, TIF Delete Files. Be sure to check the
Delete All Offline Content in the pop-up.
