FILES ON EMAIL ENDING WITH ".MHT" extension WON'T OPEN???

I am using Vista operating system.

today I received five emails with attachments ending with .mht (0.3
KB). extension I cannot open any of them.

The person who sent them is using windows XP and they work fine for
him.

How do I fix it?

He must sending you a HTML format emails and so your Windows Mail is
blocking its contents from appearing on your screen. Do you get a
message in yellow or beige color at the top of your screen to "Sow
images" or something similar? In Outlook express you get a message
like: "Click here to download pictures"

You could also reconfigure your windows live mail to show images by
default (but not advisable) by going to: Tools, Safety Options, and
clicking on SECURITY tab and then ticking "Block images and other
external content in HTML email"

Its comming in by hotmail. When I click on attachment, I get done with
a blank screen.

I'm also having the problem. It started when they changed hotmail to it's
new look and there is nothing helpful in their help menu and no way to
contact them for help

Absolutely. I hate this new look - so many things have disappeard -STUPID!
And strangely, I had an e-mail with say 5-6 .doc attachments sent before the
new look. NOw they are all converted into this MHT thing as a single
attachment. There's no way I can open it. All my DOC files are not
available.....
The only thing I could do is resend my e-mail with my MHT-attachment to
Windows Live Mail and you can see straight away that it opens the message
twice: once the attachment as a package and secondly the package as a DOC
file......

Basically, HOTMAIL cannot open MHT........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can somebody
clarify this THING?

i tried the solutions and none of them are working. it pisses me off because
for the solutions i came across how it said it might be the computer. Thats
bs considering everthing was working fine till the genious's at microsoft did
the new look.

I opened a gmail account with a different name, and they have html. I sent
all my hotmail to gmail, and it all opens

I didn't see a fix or link to a fix? I cannot open any attachments in
hotmail. They all come with the .mht and link to a new window but it is
blank or has the verbage of the original email message, but these is no
attachment. I have mailed a couple of these messages to another email
account and they work fine. Some files are WMV some PPS.

Any ideas???

I forwarded my hotmail messages with .mht attachments to my gmail account and
gmail opened them without a problem.

The "new" hotmail interface is not user friendly, is unstable, and cannot do
simple things that google can. Microsoft dropped the ball on this one and
should return hotmail to the old web site. I hate it.

When they roll back to the old hotmail, you think they can also scrap vista
and the office 2007 suite? terrible product releases, but when your MSN and
buy any good competition you can pretty much release any old crap...

hotmail was great, pre MSN if you remember...

To open a MHT file in Firefox, download the add on at this web site:
http://www.unmht.org/unmht/en_index.html

When you download the file, choose to open it with Firefox. That solved the
problem for me.
