MSXML4 was a guess.
In that case I would try the same thing with MSXML3.

BTW notice that others were able to back out the changes on XP
using its System Restore facility. (See recent thread by Cybarber.)

BTW, you can update to MSXML3 SP7 by installing
latest MDAC 2.8 SP1
