Rarely does Clear History actually work. Does anyone have
the fix for this?

Jack,

Had similar problems as you've described a long time ago. Not really sure of
the true reason, but you can try the following in this order and see if it
solves it. Try them one at a time and observe your results.

1) Try clear history with the browser closed.
2) Start>programs>accessories>system tools> disk cleanup.

These links may provide some insight, see if they help:

Also to be noted is that McAfee AV with Active X enabled has been attributed
to certain history problems. I am not sure if it would apply with this issue
, and I do not use McAfee, but this is what I have heard. This is a start
and the best I can think of for the moment.

Good Luck - HTH

Things to try:
1. Click Start/Setting/Control Panel/Internet Options. On the General Tab in
the History section Click Clear History.

2. Click Start/Setting/Taskbar and Start Menu. On the advanced tab click
Clear.

3. Delete the History Folder. For Instructions look midway this page;
