Whenever I mistype a URL or even enter a partial URL such
as "google" I am redirected to http://www.megago.com/l/
instead of the default msn search engine. Apparently the
dubious company that runs the website (see
http://www.netsol.com/cgi-bin/whois/whois?
STRING=megago.com&SearchType=do)passed some code on to my
computer which overrides the default option.

As if this is not already annoying, the bogus site then
asks two questions and pops up two ad windows. If you
click ok on the questions without reading it, your new
home page will be megago.

I exhausted all the tips on getting rid of megago.com that
I found on google, including the ones that I found on the
news group search. I searched my registry for megago. I
downloaded and ran lavasoft's ad-aware program, which I
highly recommended for getting rid of pop ups (see
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/). I also downloaded and ran
BHO Cop. ( http://www.pcmag.com/article/0,2997,s%3D1478%
26a%3D4453,00.asp). After all of this, megago.com still
appears when I mistype URLs.

I have finally resolved to add megago.com to
my "restricted site" list on the security tab under
internet option. Although I still get redirected to
megago.com, I no longer get the annoying questions or the
pop up windows.

Nevertheless, I won't be fully satisfied until the
redirect is gone or at least, reconfigured to point to
msn.com or any legitimate search engine. Any ideas on how
I can accomplish this?
