None of the IE Web Controls were really supported by Microsoft, they didn't
mind you using them but wouldn't provide support if you called. The
disclaimer about support has been in the documentation for as long as I can
remember.

I doubt IE 7 will drop support for DHTML Behaviors since MS has proposed
them to the W3C, so you should be able to continue to use the WebService.htc
with IE 7. However given that MS is promoting SOA heavily you will
undoubtedly find new capabilities for accessing web services directly from
the browser.
