VML question

I and my colleagues are in research mode to design and build a complex graphical
application via the web. From our initial research it appears that two avenues
could be taken to present the graphs. One is using VML and the other is SVG. We
have not found to much information regarding VML. There appears to be more
information and support of SVG then VML. Is anyone out there developing web based
graphical applications using VML? If so what is your take on Microsoft support
ing VML in the future or will they throw there weight behind SVG ?

If you are aiming at Windows IE5 + then VML, if you need to include other platforms than this, then you'll need to do the java or plugin or something, so SVG is a better option. VML is pretty robust, supporting the wordart of office2000 for instance. It's easy as pie to get up and running. Here's one I did last night that uses VML to trace a SMIL2 animation path.

 but it looks like the rest of the world uses other things.....and robust? And dokumented??? What MS provides for VML falls into the "one of their million blames" category. And: [Not an affront]Your script/sample, what should it do [there is a slight yellow flicker at the top left edge of the window and some textboxes with crucial number values]. So, it that the MS-VML?????
 
I take your articles at expert level, so please, take this NOT as a personal affront! But I think, it points out the current real VML state ... :-(

When you upgrade to 5.5 you might get a better look at it.  I am flattered you appreciate my posts as seemingly coming from an expert.  The script I attached actually utilizes VML for something useful--creating paths for SMIL 2.0 animateMotion elements.  It was just my most recent example.  There is another attached for when you get that browser updated.  
 
No affront taken.  I am closer a starving artist; almost never a professional, so all feedback is welcome.  If I listen up, maybe I can get a gig doing this sort of thing someday.
 
As for VML, check the source of a Office2k document you've gone nuts with.  Is that VML in there?  You betcha.

 I expected to update my (rarely used) w2k to IE5.5 (needing Ie5 because of compatibility reasons) since 11/2000...........Hope, I find the time in short.....
