Hello,

with CSS (or another solution), how can I create a table where there are now
borders except for around certain cells?

Thanks,
Bernhard S.

I don't know how to change it for individual cells, but the following might
help. If you want to change the borders for the entire table, you can use
the FRAME= and RULES= attributes. The possible values for FRAME= are ABOVE,
BELOW, BORDER, BOX, HSIDES, LHS, RHS, VOID, and/or VSIDES. The possible
values for RULES= are NONE, ALL, ROWS, COLS, or GROUPS. The difference
between the two is that RULES= does not affect the outer border (if you want
to change the outer border, use the frame attribute). Here is an example
using the RULES= attribute:

<HTML>
<BODY>
<TABLE RULES=NONE>
<TR><TD>CELL 1<TD>CELL 2<TD>CELL 3
<TR><TD>CELL 4<TD>CELL 5<TD>CELL 6
<TR><TD>CELL 7<TD>CELL 8<TD>CELL 9
</TABLE>
<BR>
<TABLE RULES=ALL>
<TR><TD>CELL 1<TD>CELL 2<TD>CELL 3
<TR><TD>CELL 4<TD>CELL 5<TD>CELL 6
<TR><TD>CELL 7<TD>CELL 8<TD>CELL 9
</TABLE>
<BR>
<TABLE RULES=ROWS>
<TR><TD>CELL 1<TD>CELL 2<TD>CELL 3
<TR><TD>CELL 4<TD>CELL 5<TD>CELL 6
<TR><TD>CELL 7<TD>CELL 8<TD>CELL 9
</TABLE>
<BR>
<TABLE RULES=COLS>
<TR><TD>CELL 1<TD>CELL 2<TD>CELL 3
<TR><TD>CELL 4<TD>CELL 5<TD>CELL 6
<TR><TD>CELL 7<TD>CELL 8<TD>CELL 9
</TABLE>
<BR>
<TABLE RULES=GROUPS>
<TR><TD>CELL 1<TD>CELL 2<TD>CELL 3
<COLGROUP SPAN=2>
</COLGROUP>
<COLGROUP>
</COLGROUP>
<TR><TD>CELL 4<TD>CELL 5<TD>CELL 6
<TR><TD>CELL 7<TD>CELL 8<TD>CELL 9
</TABLE>
</BODY>
</HTML>

Maybe one of these can do what you want. If not, good luck (I think they
should have these attributes available for the <TD> and <TH> tags as well,
but they don't)
