Avoid scrolling in pull down menue (Selectbox)

Hello,
I use a selectbox (size=1) with many entries. When the user click to the
box, the pull-down menue opens. And because of 21 entries the user has a
scrollbar on the right.
Is there any chance using javascript/css/html to avoid this scrollbars on
the selectbox?
I can't increase the "size" because of too less space in the site.
