Filters Aren't Working in IE5.5

I have IE5.5 on Windows NT4. I've tried applying some of the neat filters
that Microsoft has such as opacity and glow, but they don't show up. In
fact the online examples generate script errors in my browser (Class not
registered).

It's not my code because the filters show up perfectly on my Windows98
machine running IE6.
Help is appreciated.
