I'm having problems with ActiveX and IE6 after installing Windows Patch
KB896688.
This has already been reported by others on the Windows Update group.

I've created a simple ActiveX control based on the VS.NET ATL ActiveX
control template (no manual code), it just displays 'ATL 7.0 : Test'. I’ve
signed it with a valid cert and deployed it here:

On WinXP SP2 with the latest IE 6, after applying patch KB896688 (as well as
the other Oct critical windows updates) the ActiveX control won't load, all I
get is a blank page after confirming I want to install and run it.

Removing patch KB896688 and restarting Windows solves the problem.
Full sysinfo for the affected PC is available here:

Did MS change IE ActiveX handling to require optional interfaces? Any info
on this will be greatly appreciated as I've got many customers with broken
functionality out there right now.

Thanks,
