I'm not able to get Hotmail working through OE and for a whole host of reasons, that doesn't upset me in the least. Frankly, I think Hotmail access in OE is a Monumental WOFTAM.
Notwithstanding, I still use web-based Hotmail. I would like to set up a "Favorite" that will a) take me to Hotmail and b) sign me in.

Now I know that there's a "button", I can turn on to "remember" my userid and password, and it probably does, it's just that it continually forgets that it's supposed to be "turned on".

I think it's supposed to be something like this:
http://lc4.law5.hotmail.passport.com/cgi-bin/login?cid=my-name&aid=password

But that's not working. Anybody able to assist?

TIA

Al, are you clearing the content from the TIF when you dump it to also
remove the OE ca and [ files?

Seems like when I did that, it also caused IE to forget. I'd do it again to
test it out but it took me forever to get all the ones back in. Ok, I'm
lousy on paperwork and everything is on a corner of another piece of paper
around here <G>

Hadn't tried this, but wonder if you saved the web page as an MHT file it
might retain the info (???).

Another idea would be to use a Windows Scripting Host script. I think I may
have one around here to do just that. I'll see if I can find it.

Saving as .mht does NOT save sign on data, nice try though. <G>

Just a thought. It encodes it after the fact anyway.

Al,
You might try the MSN Preview if you want better access to HoTMaiL from
IE. It has a button that takes you straight to your inbox, and has
automatic notification of new mail. I don't know how much of a "power"
user you are. I wouldn't recommend the MSN Preview for a power user because
there's just too much that's hidden from you. But if all you desire is
simplicity, you might check it out.

Not until they fix the uninstall problem where it will cause you not to be
able to connect to your ISP.

Then those using MSN are finding out they've been switched to Hotmail.

MSN Explorer Preview is not one to choose at the moment,

But he's not an MSN user, he's just trying to get to his Hotmail.

And the uninstall issue isn't an issue if he doesn't uninstall it.

There are always issues with betas, I was merely pointing out a possibility.

Hotmail = MSN user effectively.

Personally I think the problem lies in the Passport side of things.

I manage a couple of MSN community sites and I have no end of problems
logging in and out to do site maintenance (even though it is supposed to do
it automatically on this computer)

Trouble is whenever you ask for support from one they say it is someone
elses problem. Strange that since they are all in the same company.

As I said previously

* Hotmail don't have probles it is OE or Explorer or you ISP
* Outlook Express has no support (except the volunteers here)
* Explorer has no support ( ... ditto ...)
* MSN communities don't have problems it is Explorer or Hotmail or Passport
or your ISP

Talk about passing the buck and never supplying support.

Unfortunately this seems to becoming a trend as systems get more complex
there is less support.
