Hello,

I have been working on an ActiveX (I did not initiate the project, but
have got to modifiy it anfd add some functionnalities) which should run
on any Windows system since Windows 98 SE.

My concern is that the app perfectly runs on Windows XP, but not in
Windows 98 SE. Since my ActiveX is an EXE file, I tried to double click
on it to launch it. This works in Windows XP (it can also be
instanciated from a webpapge), but nothing happens with Windows 98 SE.

The developpement was first made with VC++ 6.0, and now I am working
with Visual Studio .NET.
But there was yet a problem with Windows 98 when it was a full Visual
C++ 6.0 project, and I didn't use any .NET-specific class or
instruction while developping. It's just pure MFC C++, with no use of
ATL.

Since I am something new at ActiveX developpement, I was looking for
some information on what could prevent an ActiveX to run in Windows 98
SE, and allow it to run on Windows XP.

What should be the points to take into account while developping an
ActiveX which is supposed to be fully compatible to all Windows systems
? Are them some instructions/classes or others to avoid ?

Thank you for any hint, since the ActiveX is supposed to be terminated
today ...
