By now we know that Hotmail is havinf some ridiculous bad trouble, likely
hardware failure. I've been out since Thursday. Microsoft is being vague
and elusive and says only 1% of 67 million users are affected. That's still
670,000 poor souls (fools?) like us who are stuck. It stinks and there is
nothing we can do about it, except go elsewhere.

I've been having the same problems -- Hotmail
account unavailable for almost a week. It came
back yesterday for a few hours, and everything
was lost, inbox, saved messages, address book --
EVERYTHING! After much searching, I found a
Hotmail support phone # to call: (650)964-7200.
It took forever, but I finally got through (and
was on hold for about 45 minutes). The guy there
read what must have been memos sent to all phone
support people about this problem. He said they
were fixing the server that had been down and
were working on restoring all the lost info, and
that it should all be taken care of my last night
(6/15). So today, I signed on, and my account is
back, but is STILL MISSING MOST OF MY INFO! My
address book is gone, my saved messages are gone,
and the messages that were in my inbox yesterday
are now gone. I am going to try calling again.
Also, the email address for Hotmail support is
supp...@hotmail.com. I've emailed them 3 times
and so far, have only received the
automated "thanks for your email" replies. All I
want now is to retrieve my lost info, and then
get the hell away from the world of web-based
email!!!
