Hi!

On Outlook Express 5, I cannot digitally sign my messages, why!?

There are a number of reasons you can't digitally sign your mesage.
1. You don't have a digital ID or your digital ID has expired
2. You are trying to apply your digital ID to an email/news message
using another account than the one you signed up with.
3.The digital ID is corrupted.

when I try to send a digitally signed message, my Outlook freeze up, and I
don't know why

Try uninstalling your digital ID and re-installing it by downloading it from
www.verisign.com and see if that works. If it doesn't, uninstall OE5 and
then try again. Tell me if that works email me ta...@videon.wave.ca : )

I had the same problem, what I did was this:

Click TOOLS/OPTIONS/SECURITY
Click ADVANCED (button)
See REVOCATION CHECKING/check for revoked Digital ID's
put dot in NEVER

From what I understand of this is: it will check the Digital ID server
everytime you sign a message to see if that ID is still valid...the server
takes a very long time to do this...soooo...stop it from checking everytime.
(besides...it's your ID...and you know what the exp. date is so why
crosscheck it?)
But then again...that is just MY opinion...but the fix worked for me.
