When I open MSIE Something called "Search Now" opens at
the bottom of my window. How can I stop this from happening

My IE6 does not have any Search Now, but it is possible that we are
talking about Search, which can be disabled from:View/Customize/ You
will see two columns, and highlight Search, by clicking on it, and you
can remove it.
My Search is in the toolbar, and it splits the screen bringing up a
Search section, from which you can exit. I do not recall if thewre was
anything different in any IE5.x.

Thanks, Fulvio, but the MSN search is not the problem.
This "search now" is a bar across the bottom of my screen
that opens everytime I open MSIE. It has 6 icons such as
travel, mortgages, sex, etc. and 6 boxes with drag down
menus for careers, computers, etc. and a blank box to type
in what you want to search for. It seems to come from
something called LOP.com. I have no clue how it got on my
computer. I'd sure like to make it go away permanently.
Thanks

I do not know what brought it up, but it is an adult and porn software
site, which will put that junk. I did a search using Netscape, as a
sacrificial lamb, and all sort of porn popped up. I do not know if the
download anything without being asked, and they probably do, so I will
have to do some fishing. I will let you know if I find the culprit.

First of all, check this, the website which Sandi gives:
http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/darnit.htm#tshoot
You are going to need some software which will help,
AdAware and Skybot Search and Destroy, from
http://www.lavasoft.com and http://www.net-integration.net
respectively. Skybot S&S is supposed to protect you from anything,
and, I am still trying to figure it out. But,everything ius reversible.
A good scan with AdAware may be enough to disable that toolbar. I have
not found it listed in Skybot, so check with the "Darnit" page, first.
