I am trying to deploy a package to users via group policy. I GP
object, put the .msi in the distribution point, created a test group,
added users to the test group and set the deployment to "assign".
Part of my question is how the "install this application at
logon"(which is currently checked) works. I'll get back to that :)

Before I go any further, we do NOT have a test domain for me to play
with this. I'm working on getting the company to spend the money
exactly for reasons like this ...

So, I go to a test machine, logon with a user in the test group and
see the application getting installed like all logon scripts do.
Success! Well, kind of... in the installation guide the following
text is a footnote "this type of GPO change requires a restart on each
computer where the logon screen extension is being deployed." Pretty
much spot on because immediately after the installation and before
getting to the desktop, the pc rebooted. Ouch. I immediately removed
all users from the group so one of my test users, our Exchange admin,
could have logged on to the exchange server and BAM, reboot the
Exchange server during production hours.

I called the vendor and asked them if I could get the .msi to install
and not immediately reboot the system. I was told, no, just like it
says in the manual the system will reboot. We are deploying this
based on user so when a pc gets changed or someone logs on at a
different site, this software is stilled installed. I want this
installation to NOT reboot the computer. I realize this means the
gina extensions won't be available until next reboot, and I'm
perfectly fine with that.

I did some searching for an .msi editor, got Orca and started snooping
around. I have absolutely zero experience with this so I was doing a
lot of googling and poking around. I found one setting that stood out
- ScheduleReboot. The current value is "ISSCHEDULEREBOOT or NPGINAUPG
or GinaDLLReplaced or REMOVE='ALL'" I found a value "ReallySuppress".
Unfortunately, I have not idea what the current values are or do :(

Any suggestions or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
