Event Id 1058: Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO
CN={42D7EA2F-5AD7-4067-A4A6-50FEBC2CFC3D},CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=isegi,DC=
unl,DC=pt. The file must be present at the location
<\\isegi.unl.pt\SysVol\isegi.unl.pt\Policies\{42D7EA2F-5AD7-4067-A4A6-50FEBC
2CFC3D}\gpt.ini>. (The system cannot find the path specified. ). Group
Policy processing aborted.
Event Id 1030: Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. A
message that describes the reason for this was previously logged by the
policy engine.
You need to delete the policy in AD Users and Computers since the
corresponding GUID no longer exists in the Sysvol.
Go to ADUC and right click all the poilices until you find the one that has
the GUID in question: 42D7EA2F-5AD7-4067-A4A6-50FEBC2CFC3D. You have to
right click the GPO and go to properties and it should show the GUID in the
"Unique Name" field. Once it is deleted the clients errors should stop.

If the folder in question does not exist at the path specified then it did
not restore correctly. Find the Group Policy Object that has a "Unique Name"
of 42D7EA2F-5AD7-4067-A4A6-50FEBC2CFC3D and unlink from whatever OU it is
linked to.
Recreate a new policy if needed.
This article outlines how to find the Unique Name of a GPO.

I haven't called PSS yet, but came up with the following
proven, safe and no-side effects workaround. So for those
of you who want see the error vanish for ever and get the
policies applied (until the Dev Team provides a hotfix)
you can try this, even in a production environment:
Fifty years ago the host file was invented. Fifty years
later it seems we cannot get read of it.
Go to and edit the host file on EACH DC and add these
mapping:
IP LOCAL DC ------------------------ company.com (this is
the FULL QUALIFIED DOMAIN NAME)
IP SECOND DC-----------------------company.com
IP THIRD DC -------------------------company.com
.
.
.
On each DC place the IP of the local DC first and then
start enumerating ALL other DCs as in the example above.
REPEAT THE PROCEDURE ON EACH DC AND ALWAYS ENUMERATE ALL
DCs, IF YOU DON'T I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THE SCHEMA MASTER
CANT BE TRANSFERED.
If you have a look at the "Access denied error to the
gpt.ini", the FQDN is the problem in that UNC route. So be
free to enumerate any posible cause. In some point in
time, for this specific host record, and for the specific
porpuse of updating the gpt.ini, the communication to the
DNS server, fails.
